Yū Asakawa (浅川 悠 Asakawa Yū), born March 20, 1975, in Tokyo, is the Japanese voice actor of Sakaki in the Azumanga Daioh anime. She is also a singer and has been active since 1996. Asakawa provides the voice samples for the Crypton Future Media's third Vocaloid 2 era Vocaloid, Megurine Luka. She is currently affiliated with Arts Vision and was previously married to fellow voice actor Showtaro Morikubo. Asakawa is also a co-host of the internet webshow Otaku Verse Zero with Patrick Macias, the editor-in-chief of Otaku USA. She has appeared in series such as Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, School Rumble, Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Love Hina, Hikaru no Go, Detective Conan, Hamtaro, and Kaleido Star. Asakawa is known for her deep and calm voice, often giving her roles as quiet and tall girls, like Sakaki. She likes watching movies (for example, Pirates of the Caribbean) and is skilled in English, judo, and calligraphy. Asakawa also enjoys computer games. She is 160 cm tall, unlike her much taller character in Azumanga Daioh.
