Referbacks[]

Trivia[]

Characters[]

Cultural References[]

  • Yomi wants to get thinner, a reference to today's mainstream beauty ideal, and also the importance of a maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
  • On the day before the marathon, Osaka wishes for rain to come. Chiyo says that her sunny disposition usually brings good weather, so Osaka jokingly suggests for them to hang Chiyo upside down, like you would do with a teru teru bōzu. This is a reference to the Japanese tradition of making good luck charms out of white cloth and hanging them from a window, mainly when you want it to be sunny, but also when you want it to be rainy, by hanging the charms upside down instead. This explains why Tomo and Osaka hang Chiyo upside down from a window. To top it all off, the next day turns out to be lovely.

Unanswered Questions[]

  • Osaka says she is bad at "puzzles and stuff" but she is in fact later revealed to be excellent at riddles. Though she may not have been aware of this. The reason she is better at riddles is probably because of her unconventional way of thinking. But it is not known why she claims to be good at puzzles at first.
  • We do not find out who the child was that wished Sakaki good luck in the marathon.
  • It is unknown who the five people were that scored better than Sakaki in the marathon.
  • Yukari says "... And that's what makes me a bird!" but what exactly makes her a bird is not explained.
  • Two boys are collecting money for charity, but it is not said what they need the money for.

Memorable Moments[]

  • Tomo starts running as fast as she can just so she can be in the lead for the first mile, even though this ends with her coming in last together with Chiyo and Osaka. She calls this "her way of life". Chiyo decides to try this too, but it fails dramatically. Tomo even agrees that it is "no way to live".
  • Yukari and Nyamo's night out, with Yukari getting way too drunk, ends in the two of them encountering boys collecting money for charity. Yukari decides not to give them any because she's short on cash from having spent so much on alcohol, only to see Kimura give the boys a ¥10,000 bill. This is the first chapter where Kimura shows good qualities, such as generosity and charitableness, which confuses Yukari.
